After an enlightening sojourn to Africa in September, where so much is done with very little, I returned to Fall Session in the Legislature with an enhanced critical eye towards how the province manages its resources.

After a lot of consulatation, debate and research, I presented my brand-new Energy policy to the caucus last week, where it was met with approval.

It clearly lays out how important Alberta's energy industry is to the province, and sets up a plan to work together for stability, certainty and competitiveness on a global scale for many years to come.

2010 Energy Policy
Our relationship with the oil and gas industry is vital. Alberta’s oil and gas resources belong to the people of Alberta, and we rely on the industry to develop those resources. The oil and gas industry is the backbone of Alberta’s economy. With that in mind, over the last several months we have consulted in detail with members of the oil and gas industry. We have offered proposals, we have asked for suggestions, and we have listened to their advice.
